Tamar WIP 01

Let me just say that it has been an absolute blessing this past week-point-five to, for the most part, just do my own thing when I want, the way I want. I finally broke out the brushes and found I’m not as rusty as I’d feared. I will soon jump back onto a couple commissioned portraits. But first! This is what I started today. It needs work still, but it’s coming along rather nicely. It’s 9″x12″ oil on canvas board. It’s a portrait of my brother’s gf, based on a photo I’d taken of her when I was in NYC sometime last year. At any rate, it’s still a work-in-progress (WIP), but so far so good.

More later!

Cheers,

Nice! I actually kind of like that weird over-exposed (underpainting) stage the hair is in here, goes nicely with the shifting lights.

    Owen!
How the hell are you, man? It’s been too long.
It’s funny, a lot of people are responding to that aspect of the hair. I had painted it in and then didn’t like what I’d painted so I scraped it down. That’s what you’re seeing ;) Oh the mysteries in art! I’ll have to find a middle ground somewhere. Glad you stopped by! From what I’ve seen you’ve been rockin’ it. Your work is still looking… dynamite! ;)

Have You Any Thoughts?
