Mas Moleskines

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Here are a couple of ball pointers from the last two days. Done post work. I’m just now starting to fall in love with my Moleskines. I think we’re moving to second base.

I’ll post more as they appear!

Z Brush

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Not to be confused with a silly computer program! She is an actual Z and I am using real brushes. Oil on panel, 24″x 36″

I haven’t posted a painting in a while so I figured a random Monday was a good time to do just that. It’s not finished. I’ve been studying it, calculating plans and angles of approach, talking about the painting, and will hopefully complete it soon. Somewhere along the way I found myself beginning paintings and then sitting back from them for weeks, or months, before pushing through to completion.

There is a good chance the background will change completely and turn more abstract, though I do like the signage in the window behind her. But of course it’s about her, not the signage, so whatever I feel compliments her best is what I will end up painting in or out. *sigh. Some people I could paint all day. Every day. And never get bored. Anyway! On with the show:

I will hopefully be posting more soon, which will mean I’m painting more and that is always a good thing.

Cheers,

Ball Point Moleskine

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

A couple portraits I just did in my sketchbook. I decided I’d go with someone that’s relatively easy to get a likeness of and move on from there. I am also a bit bored with pencil, so I went with a ball point. It works in a similar fashion, but it still forces me to be more direct:

Likeness

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

So, after having done a couple alla prima painting in the last two weeks, I have realized I’m a little rusty on the whole likeness angle. This is an odd place for me as likenesses have always come pretty readily for me. I figure the only way to shake this rust off is to practice. So here is a 20 minute speedy done in Art Rage Studio Pro 3.0. This is actual size as it was more about getting a likeness quickly rather than getting into details. It was about 90% successful.

Claudia Cardinale:

I’ll be doing more for sure.
