The Final Final Banner!
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010
[EDIT] Okay, this is the last update to the banner! I promise. Mostly because I’m just plum out of time. You will find it at booth #5557! So come on by and say hi! I’ll post something more alluring and formal soon. For now, just enjoy the image.
Cheers,

On The Horizon

A teaser! A taste, a morsel. For nothing more than to whet the pallet. I have finally pushed into the illustrations. I am doing my best to make BOOK II a step up in every way.

Dakota Rawhide “Deux”
Thursday, March 4th, 2010
I’m going to venture a wild guess and say that my host’s server crashed last night because I could not access my website. Further more my last post is now gone. Disappeared. Floating vaguely in the ether of cyperspace. It’s too bad really because it was no doubt clever. Written in the moment. Zen, even. Because I cannot remember what it said. I simply remember its function: introducing the progress on my banner for Comic Con 2010 and displaying little Dakota Tayler in all her interstellar outlaw hotness as she acts the gang-sign-throwing harbinger of BOOK 2… just before she shoots you twixt the eyes. Don’t fuck with her. She’s not having a nice day.
This is not the final. The template for the banner will change, I may add some little details to her, I may change the background completely but I’m liking the lost edges this one produced so I may keep it just for that. At any rate BOOK 2 is moving along and I will soon jump fully into illustrating it. Expect to see more full color pieces this time around, but probably fewer illustrations proportionately as I’d like to give the writing a fighting chance. Many people seemed to think that BOOK 1 was about the art and so thought they could get away with just looking at the pictures and giving a crit. It was about the story. The story was told in the writing. It was about the writing, first and foremost. The writing in BOOK 1 was so-so imo. BOOK 2 is way the hell better. No doubt. Y’all will dig it. Assuming you like stories that take characters to dark places. ‘Cause I do. So! Enjoy the painting so far! Dakota, like Natalie Portman, is a badass bitch. You’d pay for her dry-cleaning too.
Cheers,

Mas Ball Point Moleskine
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Here are some more ball point portraits. In order of appearance: Monica Bellucci, Dakota “Rawhide” Tayler, Émilie Dequenne. Some of you may notice a strong resemblance between Dakota and Émilie. That is because she was the initial inspiration from Dakota. Now you know. Use your new knowledge well my friends.
Cheers,
~D/L
